    London Attractions

Whether you are traveling with family, friends, or alone, London is a great destination. This city is steeped in tradition and offers amazing attractions for people of all ages, as well as places to relax over drinks in the evenings.

When you visit London, there are many unique opportunities to enjoy. Four of the most popular sights are Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the British Museum and Westminster Abbey.

Buckingham Palace is probably the most popular destination for London visitors, and is where the ruling monarch resides much of the year. Visitors can purchase tours, including an audio tour, which gives the history of each room in the vast building. If one prefers not to go inside, and is there at the right time, the famous "Changing of the Guard" is worth seeing.

Another popular attraction in the city is the Tower of London. Most often thought of as a place of torture and pain, it is the most recognizable buildings in the city. On a tour, guests will see the collection of crown jewels, and hear stories of some of the prisoners who spent time, were tortured, and often died there. A recent popular experience available to those who visit later at night is the Ceremony of the Keys, which recounts some of the more spooky happenings at the building.

Whether or not you enjoy history, a third attraction you should visit is the British Museum. Among the artifacts that can be viewed are well-known antiquities from around the world, including the Rosetta Stone and the famous "Bog Man". Due to it's free admission daily, you are able to visit multiple times during a single visit to London.

Finally, visitors to the city can visit Westminster Abbey, a church built during medieval times, and home to the graves of Queens Mary Tudor and Elizabeth I, as well as the famed poets, Chaucer, Dickens, and Kipling. You may either join a guided tour or set out on your own.

Not only can London guests enjoy great attractions, but also several pubs can be explored where traditional British ales and hospitality can be enjoyed. One of these popular establishments is The Guinea Grill, where patrons can enjoy a fabulous steak. It was founded in the 1700s and offers rich entrees, such as filet of beef and horseradish mash.

Another popular place to enjoy a drink or two is Cow, which offers an inviting atmosphere. It also offers a good variety of local ales, making it a very popular place, so you will need to plan ahead, or be willing to wait for a table.

A third place to have a bite to eat is Grenadier. This classy establishment is popular with travelers who are in the city on business. Guests can enjoy rich dishes such as beef Wellington, oysters, and traditional fish and chips, paired with a wide selection of draught ales.

Finally, London visitors can enjoy the hospitality of the Trafalgar Tavern. This popular place dates back to the early 1800s and claims famous visitors, including Charles Dickens and William Thackary as its guests. The ballroom upstairs is a very popular place for locals to host special events.

Whether you are visiting London to enjoy drinks with the locals, or to see some of the historic well known attractions, there is something for everyone. You can enjoy your visit to this great world city whether you are on business or just visiting for pleasure.
